Adjunct Associate Professor Raj Reddy is a Sydney neurosurgeon and spine surgeon. His practice focuses on the clinical management of complex cranial and spinal pathology, including brain and spinal tumours, hydrocephalus, degenerative and congenital spinal conditions, and craniofacial conditions in adults and children.

Clinical scope
Spinal interventions
His spinal operative scope ranges from degenerative and congenital conditions to primary and metastatic tumours. This includes minimally invasive spine surgery, complex multi-level spinal reconstructions, and tumour resection. Where clinically indicated, he uses mini-open, tubular and endoscopic microsurgical approaches.
Cranial pathologies
A/Prof Reddy manages adult and paediatric brain conditions. This includes the surgical treatment of primary and secondary brain tumours, intracranial cysts, hydrocephalus, Chiari malformations, craniovertebral junction abnormalities and select skull-base pathologies.
He treats both benign and malignant brain tumours, including gliomas, meningiomas, metastatic lesions and other complex intracranial masses. His approach prioritises maximal safe resection, preservation of neurological function and integration with multidisciplinary oncological care where required.
His cranial practice also includes neuro-endoscopic procedures, such as the endoscopic management of hydrocephalus and intraventricular pathology. He treats functional cranial conditions such as trigeminal neuralgia, for which microvascular decompression may be indicated where clinically appropriate.
He applies operative planning, image guidance and microsurgical techniques to minimise neurological risk.

Research, award and education
A/Prof Reddy’s research involves clinical outcome analyses across cerebrovascular, spinal and paediatric neurosurgery, with a focus on objective patient recovery metrics and the evaluation of emerging surgical techniques.
He is a recipient of the Peter Leech Memorial Prize for contributions to neurosurgical research during his training.
He also undertakes the postgraduate education and training of neurosurgical registrars at Prince of Wales Hospital and medical students at UNSW.
